Rosa Lee Young Childhood Center curriculum and programs are based on early childhood research and practice which provides an understanding of how young children learn and develop. The program is implemented within the context of children’s everyday experiences and relies heavily on the embedded curriculum in daily routines.
The toddler, pre-k, and kindergarten classrooms are organized into clearly defined learning centers that evolve as the curriculum topics and children’s interests change. The materials and equipment selected for these centers are purposeful to foster creativity, exploration, and inquiry. The learning centers are easily accessible to children to develop their independence, clearly labeled to introduce children to the use of written language in their environment, and organized to build on the development of age-appropriate skills.
